The historic waterfront district along Taylor’s Creek offers visitors the opportunity to dine and shop while enjoying views of feral horses on Carrot Island and boats from all over the world at the Beaufort Docks. Water ferries transport visitors to nearby Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks. There are historic and ghost tours available daily that provide a rich history of the area, and one of Blackbeard’s legendary homes is just around the corner from our vacation home! Tour the North Carolina Maritime Museum, the Beaufort Historic Site, and walk or bike the tree lined streets of the historic neighborhoods. There are fabulous restaurants by the waterfront to enjoy including annual events like the Food and Wine Weekend with winemakers and top chefs from around the world and the music festival. Whatever you decide to do, I am sure that you will find Beaufort as delightfully different as we do – and it's only 3 hours from Raleigh!
