Continuing east, you'll hit the "bosque" (Spanish for forest) and the Rio Grande river where you will find walking trails shaded by tall trees. Even further east are the tail end of the Rocky Mountains which we call the Sandias (Spanish for watermelon. These are the mountains you see from the property. Beautiful. There are many hiking trails there--even up to the peak. If you prefer, you can take the tram to the peak. The river offers fun activities like kayaking and paddle boarding.
If you are a foodie, Corrales has two fine dining restaurants, some casual ones and several bars. A big hit is Ex Novo which is a brewery that has lawn seating and allows kids and dogs. Very popular. The Corrales Rec Center offers a seasonal pool, soccer field, skate board park and a bocce court.
