Beautiful Town Rich With History
Located in Manteo on the historic Roanoke Island, visitors will love the easy access to delicious restaurants, fun local shops and plenty of historic sites. Head to downtown Manteo to visit the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse and grab a drink or bite to eat at the Lost Colony Brewery and Café. Visit the NC Aquarium and check out all of the sea life local to the area. The nearby airport also has biplanes offering tours over the Outer Banks where you'll see national landmarks, shipwrecks, and the unique geography of the island. Anglers can head to Wanchese Marina on the other side of Roanoke Island and take out a charter for an exciting fishing excursion. The Lost Colony play is a live theater performance about the well-known lost colonists who once lived on Roanoke Island in the late 1500s. To explore even more of the area's history, pay a visit the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and the beautiful Elizabethan Gardens.
