3 Bedroom Cottage in Washago, Gravenhurst

Welcome to our cozy riverside cottage!
Located just 5 minutes off highway 11, 80 minutes north of the GTA, 40 minutes north of Barrie, only 10 minutes north of Weber's, and right along the Trent-Severn waterway. Our cottage is a cozy but well-appointed space that will deliver a picturesque setting with serene, panoramic views of the river from the wrap-around deck and floor to ceiling windows.
The open-concept design in this cottage is perfect for relaxation and enjoying the outdoors. Escape to a riverside retreat where natural beauty is just outside your door. Perfect for couples, families, or a quiet getaway with friends, this scenic cottage blends comfort with the charm of waterfront living.
The Setting
- Beautiful river views from the wrap-around porch
- Sit and watch the boats go by right from your dining table
- Wildlife spotting include deer, otters, turtles, blue heron, swan, and other local species
- Private dock with access to water toys – fun for all ages!
- Firepit for creating family memories
- Bring a fishing set for excellent fishing right off the dock (we have caught burbot/ling and bass right off of the dock!!)
- Please note that we are located right on the Trent- Severn waterway, which is a busy river that connects many different lake systems. It is a no-wake zone so boats are passing slowly, but this a waterfront cottage that is sometimes bustling and offers a different pace than a private lake. This is great because you can boat/paddle FOREVER with no limitations, but for those looking for privacy or seclusion, this might not be the right fit. You can float or swim from the dock, as it’s deep and drops off.
- Please note that there is a train that goes by several times a day. The train can be heard from the property. Faintly indoors, and moderately from outside.

Other things to note
Guest Guidelines for Your Stay
We are an eco- cottage on a septic system so we ask that you use toilet paper and water sparingly. Please operate on a “if it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down” policy. Our water comes straight from the lovely river nearby, and goes through a full filtration system before entering the cottage! Because of this eco-friendly setup, please allow a short pause when you first turn on a tap, and try to use only one water source at a time for the best flow.
Parking
- Private parking available for up to 3 vehicles, please keep vehicles on the gravel path.
Fire Pit
- We offer firewood for $10 per bundle. If we happen to be out or you require more, firewood is available for purchase nearby for $10 per bundle. Right off the highway, on Manson lane there is usually a driveway that sells firewood.
- Before starting a fire, please check the city’s website for any fire bans or restrictions in effect.
- Never leave a fire unattended, and ensure it is fully out before going to bed for the night.
BBQ Use
- Propane BBQ available for use.
- Clean the grill with the brush provided after each use.
- Always close the propane tank when finished, allow the grill to cool fully before placing the cover back on.
Respect for Neighbours
- Please be considerate of the owners and neighbours by respecting their privacy and property.
- Keep in mind that quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM
Nearby Train Tracks
- There are train tracks across the river, and the train operates during the day and night (usually 1-3 times per night). You can faintly hear the train from inside the cottage; most of our guests mention that it did not disturb them/they didn't hear it, but if you're a light sleeper, consider bringing a white noise machine or fan to fully block out the noise.
Swimming and Water Activities
- We have a private dock and water access right at the back of the property. Please note that the property is on the Trent-Severn Waterway, a busy hub for boaters (and great yacht-viewing fun!). Please exercise caution when swimming. We have stand up paddle boards and kayaks available for use as well as a variety of life jackets (2 toddler/small child, 1 medium child and 6 adult) for your use during your stay.
- No parties, events or additional guests without first discussing with your hosts, please!
BOAT LAUNCH
You are welcome to dock your boat on our dock. There are public boat launches nearby.
Guest access
The whole property is yours to enjoy, including a huge grassy area for games or sports.
Please note that the cottage next door is located fairly close to ours and noise (conversation & music) carries due to the construction of the cottage. We suggest white noise if you’re light sleepers or early to bed people.
Other things to note
Please note that for your safety and ours, we have security cameras set up on the perimeter of the property.
Please enjoy the beauty of the water right outside your deck and note it is the guest's responsibility to review and abide by all required safety regulations.
